In order to have a clean happy hamster and to properly take care of your hamster you must clean, feed, wash …. The lsit goes on.A hamster is a big responsibility and takes a lot of work. Here are the day by day hamster chores that keep your hamster healthy.

Every day

  • If the wheel has the slightest residue or dirtiness thoroughly wash it out .
  • check food and water and if food is depleted dump remaining food out and refill.Refill water if depleted
  • spot clean cage by removing and throwing away droppings, wet spots,or any debris.Replace taken away bedding with a handful of fresh bedding
  • handle your hamster.
  • give a treat such as veggies every couple of days.Remove before it spoils.

Every weekend

  • Clean cage.Remove and throw away all bedding and scrub everything in the cage and the cage itself.Put new fresh bedding, toys and food and waterbottle in the cage again.
  • When cleaning the cage put your hamster in a hamster traveling case.Every few weeks this should be cleaned the same way as the the cage.

All these chores will help keep your hamster healthy and happy!

Oh,by the way the main smell in a hamster cage usually comes from their toys.Wahing these will greatly improve the smell of the cage

Awsome!(Dwarf hamsters really are cute :) Litter training is a excellent way to keep the cage clean.I have not had much success in that area, probably because my hamsters are so active, but if your hamster is trainable it is a great way to keep the cage clean( and you usually don’t have to wash it every week!;) However it depends on the type of litter you are using, are you using one of those hamster ‘litter box kits” Usually a hollow log with bedding in it is what i have tried.
